Art teacher helps a pupil with vision impairment create pottery

The Royal Blind Learning Hub is hosting a day for professionals to develop their ability to teach art to young people with vision impairment and/or complex needs. This course is suitable for primary or secondary teachers (with or without an art specialism), support staff and therapists. It will take place on Wednesday 7th March 2018 at the Royal Blind School campus in Morningside, Edinburgh. The day will provide ideas and guidance, including several examples of practical art activities which can be used with individuals and groups of pupils.

A teacher performs the Canaan Barrie sign for Good in front of a pupilThe Royal Blind Learning Hub is hosting a day for teaching and support staff to learn the skills used in communicating with learners with complex needs and visual impairment using the Canaan Barrie signing system.

This course is suitable for teachers and other professionals involved in teaching children with complex needs and vision impairment. The day will be delivered with contributions from vision impairment teachers as well as speech and language therapists.

This will take place on Tuesday 22nd May 2018 at the Royal Blind School campus in Morningside, Edinburgh.
